Kanjii Mbugua, Composer
Not many can experience the highs known to the multi-talented Kanjii Mbugua; a gifted producer, musician and businessman. In 1997 he was selected as Kenya's Youth Ambassador to the world.
In the pursuit of the best possible music training, he enrolled at Biola University, California; and later studied Contemporary Music at Musicians Institute in Hollywood. Whilst in the US, Kanji reconnected with some of his childhood friends, and went on to form the trailblazing music group Milele. He later launched his solo career, releasing over 10 albums and winning several awards.
As a seasoned producer he has worked with many artists and in the process launched several successful music careers.
Kanjii has toured over 40 states in the USA, Germany, Taiwan, Japan, Guatemala, Uganda, DRC, Tanzania and played at the biggest country music stage the Grand Ole Opry. His passion is to open people up to the love of God and their purpose.
Mwendie Mbugua, Writer & Composer
Mwendie Mbugua is a Marketing and Communication practitioner with over 18 years’ experience developing effective advertising and marketing communication.
She has always had a passion for theatre and been involved as a producer in staging several Easter and Christmas musicals in her hometown Nairobi, Kenya. She also produced East Africa’s first award winning TV musical series - Groove Theory that aired across several African countries.
In 2016 her dream of being an author was realised, and she launched her first children’s book Don’t turn off the lights!
Outside of communication she enjoys reading to children and having conversations with them. She’s a firm believer that if families talked more, the world would truly be a happier place!
Tina Nduba Banja, Writer & Composer
A Kenyan/Rwandese playwright based in Nairobi, Kenya. She has written and co-written several local musicals including, the Unforgettable Dance, Gangster’s Paradise, Bethel & Hem and Family Reunion.
Her 2019 play, the Money That Made Him Poor was produces by Tony Tini Tone and staged in the Loius Leakey platform at the National Museum.
She has also written for television. Her writing credits include co-writing local Kenyan television shows One in a Million and the television musical series Groove Theory. Groove Theory picked up four nominations for the annual Kalasha Film & TV Awards in Kenya and won for Best TV Drama.
Tina is currently collaborating, as a book writer, on two musical projects, Don’t Turn Off the Lights, a delightful and powerful children’s story about overcoming fear and Rambo Bambo Boom, a whimsical Kenyan sci-fi about aliens landing in Nairobi.
